11/9/13 Perch Pond Trails
Cold but sunny. We did this hike with our friend Faith and her two dogs Roxie and Gus. We parked at the lot for the North Trail and met a member of the bicycle club which has been building these trails. He had a large portable leaf blower to clear trails of leaves . Most of the trails are new and still have lots of rocks which are covered by the leaves. This was a new one for me. He told us that five of them had built 10 miles of trails in the last year- pretty impressive. Since Faith had not been here before she was agreeable to doing some of the trails Kelley and I had not yet done- along with some we had. We did a pretty good job of following the map with only one very short misstep- there are still junctions without signs or numbers but we guessed correctly on those.
The dogs all seemed happy to be in the woods and Faith thought the woods pretty. Once we got hiking we were comfortable but along the pond with the wind off the water it was cooler- also later in the day- we had a late start today. A pleasant hike. 3 hours. In what is probably a first for me, I did not take a single picture.
