Late start because had a morning appointment so we stayed close to home.
Another cold one- 30 when we started and windy ( 32 at end) . But the sun was out so not bad when out of the wind.
We started from the parking area at the end of Tamarack Trail and took the Loop Trail to the old rail bed- there is a side trail at that junction that Kelley wanted to do
but I persuaded her to take the rail bed instead. We walked north to the point where it gets too wet to continue ( soon it will be frozen and we may continue) and turned back. Kelley was frustrated because all the water had an ice covering and she does not like stepping on it. When we got to the access to the West Trail Kelley wanted to go that way ( she meets more people and dogs) and so we did. We soon met a neighbor and his dog Homer and we walked with them. Because we were talking I missed the trail we take back across to the rail bed and so we went on to the beaver pond, hoping for some open water.
Mostly along the edge the pond was also frozen but she found an open spot at the end and got her swim.
We backtracked to the trail we had missed and took that back to the rail bed and the other side of the Loop Trail.
Which took us back to our start. A nice hike in spite of the cold. 2 hours
The trees may be bare - but your sky is blue. It's been nothing but gray cloudy skies here.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda - Makes a big difference to me too- even the cold is easier with sunny skies.
DeleteWow, ice already. We had a dusting of snow the other day, but no ice yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim- actually we have had an extended fall and usually have more winter like weather before now. We also had a few flakes of snow but none stuck.
