5/29/18 City Forest

A beautiful morning and Kelley decided to get out of the car. She was, however, only interested in the pond and would not hike the trails.

The trees are all leafed out and it's looking like summer

Wildflower I don't know

Water lily buds

A pleasant little outing but not much exercise.

5/23/18 City Forest

Back to the beaver pond area. I think Kelley recognizes the area from the car.

Top of the hill and down to the pond

More crabapple blooms. Not much else blooming except dandelions

Left from last year

She was in and out of the pond several times but was not interested in walking futher

First insect of the year - not very sharp as I was using a camera I haven't used all winter - several other pictures wre unusable.

Heading back to the car.

A pleasant morning

5/21/18 Trail Along the Kenduskeag

Sixty two and sunny - a beautiful morning - and for the second day in a row Kelley got out of the car.

Lilacs about to open

 and some new leaves

The trail no longer looking wintry

The water in the Kenduskeag looks nice and clear

until Kelley gets in and stirs it up.

A little further along

Back in the water

This worked out very well - a beautiful morning and Kelley seemed to enjoy our little outing

5/20/18 City Forest

Cloudy with sprinkles but supposed to clear up. Headed back here , hoping the pond would draw Kelley out of the car and it did.

Some dandelions in the field on the way to the pond.

The trees are all puting out new leaves

First shot at the water

New cattail growth - it's all coming back to life

Further along the pond

These were part of a large patch

New maple seeds

We did get a little beyond the pond this morning - but not far before Kelley had had enough and we turned back

More crabapple

Last chance before we head up the hill

Kelley did well today going beyond just the pond. We also met a couple of other dogs and their people and that made her happy.

5/18/18 Pond at City Forest

Fifty two degrees and quite wind but the sun is shining and Kelley got out of the car.

First chance to get in the water

Wildflowers at last - don't know this one

Water lilies are  starting to show

A litttle further along

I think this is a wild fruit tree

Another I don't know

One last dip

Kelley did not want to walk beyond the pond but we got a little exercise and it was really nice to see things blooming at last

5/13/18 Beaver Pond City Forest

A beautiful morning with bright sun and pleasant temps. Got Kelley out of the car and realized I forgot my camera- no pictures today.  She really seemed to enjoy the pond today, staying in longer than usual. She wasn't interested in walking further so we headed back up the hill where we met several people and dogs. This always makes her happy.

Back at home I worked on the garden and Kelley laid on the grass in the sun

5/10/18 City Forest

Pretty morning so we hedded for the forest and the beaver pond. With a little persuasion Kelley decided to get out of the car and we headed down.

Still kind of wintry looking but there are patches of new green as the trees start to leaf out.

Coming down the hill to the pond

and in

Ferns opening up

We walked a ways past the pond and into the woods until Kelley was ready to turn back.

One more dip before we head up tthe hill

Short but pleasant and Kelley seemed to enjoy it - especailly the water part.

5/7/18 Harbor Brook

Upper 50's and mostly sunny. First hike in shirt sleaves this year. I had to persuade Kelley to get out of the car but once out, she did well. I think this is her favorite trail.

Start of the trail

Into the stream

No wildflowers yet but there were some buds on the trees.

Doesn't have to be the larger stream

Back in

Cool clear water

Some lichen in lieu of wildflowers

Back near the start of the trail

A beautiful day and a pleasant hike. I was happy that Kelley hikes and did well.
