5/10/10 Mt. Waldo and A Little Sears Island
Thanks for the suggestion Scott.
This trail is less than 24 miles from home.We started from the end of Mt. Waldo Road and followed Scott's directions up the old road bed (yellow section) to find the start of the trail behind the old Quarry (green section). The trail starts out through woods
And crosses sheets of granite before dropping back down and then up again. You can see one of the towers on the summit in the background.
There are views along the way and from the summit
After walking around a bit at the top (cold and windy) we returned the way we had come. 2-1/2 hours
Since we weren't that far from Sears Island we went there for lunch and a brief walk on the shore to test a macro lens.

I'm loving the closeups taken with the macro lens...nice change of pace for the blog.
