Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

1/9/13 Walden Parke

Mild temperatures , sunny skies, and little wind- at least when we started- by hikes end it was completely clouded over. We took  the Loop Trail to the rail bed and followed that south to the intersection with the snowmobile trail. From the snowmobile trail we walked a few side trails, one of which we have done many times, usually from the other end, which took us to the West Penjajawoc Grasslands. We then took a " closed"  trail that some times is not passable because of water, back to the rail bed and that to the other side of the loop trail and back to the start. We only met one other person (twice) a nice man who was skiing. Kelley seemed to enjoy the good footing ( especially after what I got her into yesterday) and was mostly leading the way - she does stop at intersections to await an indication of our direction forward.

A nice hike 2  1/2 hours.

  1. John,
The still-life pictures are great (so is Kelley, too). I especially like the maple leaf.

  3. Hi John...I have not forgotten you I promise !!
I see that you and Kelley have been taking advantage of snowmobile, and other forms of snow travel...I have yet had a chance to see what the trail near me is looking like..I love walking it!
Your photos are nice and creative as usual, and of course Kelley is always the show stopper : )

  4. A great day for a hike and a few more coming up before back into the deep freeze. Kelley sure stands out against the snow!

  5. Hi Grace- thanks for stopping by and for your comments. The snowmobile trails are really good for Kelley when we have deep snow on the other trails ( nice walking for me too).

Hi penbayman - it has been beautiful and we can handle the cold- these warmer days make me fear more of that dreaded rain.

  6. Love the way you get the silhouettes against the snow. Nice trail through the birches - my favorite parts of the woods in the hills around me.

  7. Hi Casey- thanks for stopping by and commenting. The weeds against the snow remind me of Asian ink drawings and I love to find them.
