Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

1/19/15 Newman Hill - Bangor Hill

Rained yesterday afternoon and last night and most of the snow around home is gone. Forties with a mix of sun and clouds. Chose this hike because it's close to home and most of the trails are usually  not that wet. The road at the start was kind of muddy but once we got on the trails there were still a couple inches of wet snow. We were actually able to follow the route we selected - this is usually not  the case - they have improved the trail markers at the intersections.

The hiking was not bad and Kelley even found a couple of places she could lie down in water. She was, however, disappointed when she tried for a swim in one of the ponds - it looked like open water but she found there were only a few inches of water on top of  ice -no swim today. We even took the little spur to Pine Pond but found it also frozen. We met a man on a bike in the parking lot when we got back but had not met anyone else on our two hour hike.

No pictures because I forgot my camera- first time for that - hope not a sign of things to come.
