9/8/12 Black Mtn. Cliffs and Donnell Pond
Supposed to rain later but we thought we could get in a short hike before it came. Clouds, fog, and sprinkles as we started. We started from the Schoodic Beach parking area and were surprised to find Sarge ( Kelley's best friend), her owners, and a group of children about to do a hike. Kelley was very excited to see Sarge and all those people.
The hike up to the ridge is all woods with some fairly steep sections and several places with large rocks that Kelley needs to work around- so fairly arduous. The only views are normally through the trees but today the fog prevented even those.
After the easy hike along the ridge and then down to Donnell Pond we still had clouds and some fog
But lots of water for Kelley
We had our lunch at a picnic table there before setting out for the parking area
As we started we got a nice view of the area we had hiked to get down to the pond
A little strenuous in part and not the best weather but still a good hike. 2 hours

Donnell Pond looks like it has a nice beach.
ReplyDeleteHi John
ReplyDeleteIt is and is quite long. I tried to find info but could not as I suspect the sand was brought in- but maybe it's there naturally. Anyone know?
swam there today, the water was clear and clean.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi- It's been that way every time we have visited. Not many sand beaches around here.
