Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

9/4/12 Hunters Beach and Hunters Brook

Rain forecast for this afternoon, tonight , and tomorrow but right now the sun is shining so we are off to get in a hike. Decided to do parts of two hikes we usually do more of. The first started from the Day Mtn. parking lot and is called 'Lower Day Mtn.' and 'Hunters Cliff'. There is the trail we usually take and several side trails we had not explored which we did today. One took us in a circle, one took us to someone's yard, and one that went to the cliff continued on in a manner not suitable for Kelley.

We continued on our usual trail down to the beach

The beach has no sand but is on a small cove and it's a quite pleasant spot

Kelley would rather swim in the brook than in the ocean

On the way back she found a very small pool of water to get into

Back at the car we drove the short distance to where Rte. 3 crosses the park loop road , parked, and walked down to it and the short ways to the Harbor Brook Trail.  We didn't do the whole trail but turned back where the trail turns away from the brook.

An old trail marker. I don't see many of these any more.

A pleasant 3 hour outing without rain.
