6/11/12 Newman Hill- Hinds
Another nice day- compromise of nearby hike and then work in the garden. These trails are very confusing as many of them lack blazes, many intersections have no signs, and there are several trails not on the map. The last time we hiked here in summer ( easier in winter because of tracks in the snow) we started down the old Veazie rail bed - intending a loop - and after turning east when that became too wet we ended up about a mile and a half down Forest Ave. This time we started at the other end of the loop but again lost the trail and finally ended up taking one of the bike trails back.
Kelley just likes being out there and doesn't mind if we can't find the right trail
Another attempt at a stitched panorama shot. I have heard the pond referred to as a 'bait pond' and assume it was or is used to raise bait for fishing.
In spite of the wandering it was a beautiful day and we got in a hike of 1 3/4 hours
