Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

7/1/10 Parkman Mtn., Gilmore Peak, and Sargent Mtn.

A mix of sun and clouds with temperatures in the 60's -good hiking weather. We started the Parkman Mtn. Trail across from the Norumbega parking area on198. We usually take the Bald Mtn. Trail because in her early hiking career Kelley had trouble with this trail. She has obviously gained both skill and confidence and managed it today without any help from me.

Upper Hadlock Pond from the Parkman Mtn. Trail

Near the summit we met some nice people and after a little chat continued across the mountain and took the Grandgent Trail

to Gilmore Peak where we shared an apple

and then hiked down the Grandgent

and up Maple Spring

to Sargent S. Ridge. I was going to skip the summit but Kelley wanted to do it so we did and then hiked back to the Hadlock Brook Trail where , near the start we stopped for lunch.

This guy flew by as we were having our lunch

We followed the Hadlock Brook Trail back to our car.
A nice hike with lots of variety. 3-1/2 hours

  1. Really love the picture of the bird. My husband like watching for birds on our hike.

  2. Thanks. I wish I knew them better for identification purposes.
