7/19/10 Ragged Mountain
The plan had been to hike Frye Mountain near Montville but when we stopped the car in a field next to the trail head we were engulfed in a veritable cloud of deer flies. We didn't even get out of the car but immediately drove off. Looking at the map we decided on Ragged Mountain and drove to the trail head on Rte. 17. The first part of this trail is an easy walk in the woods ( and no deer flies) as it meanders along the side of the mountain. It then climbs fairly steeply to the open ledges of the summit. Along the way we met and talked to a nice man from Rhode Island who gave Kelley some attention which made her happy. This was an out and back hike and took us 3-1/4 hours

The lone house in a sea of trees is nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it has intrigued me on previous hikes.
