Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

11/30/12 Walden Parke

Cold ( 16 when we started) and sunny but no wind. We just went to nearby Walden for an hour and a half walk. We met only one other person- a biker. There was water in small streams for Kelley to drink but the places she usually gets in the water were frozen.

At one point I left the trail to check out an area of frozen water and found this beaver dam- what a lot of work

And the pond they had created

A nice outing - the lack of wind was very nice.

  1. I've just discovered your blog. Hiking and dogs are two of my favorite things so I am very pleased. Is your hike today also known as walden preserve? I look forward to reading your blog and discovering new places to hike.

  2. Hi I'm glad you found us. It's full name is, I believe, Walden Parke Preserve. It abuts City Forest and the old Veazie rail bed. We are always interested in finding new trails so feel free to suggest any you like. There is a search function at the top left that you can use to search for specific places or trails. I added a map at the top but there are many trails that are not on it and we often use trails that connect Walden and City Forest.
