8/9/11 Hogback Overlook Loop
A nice sunny day. we started from the Burnham Hill Rd. on the Halldale Spur > Bog Brook Trail > Hogback Connector >Hog Back Loop and back. The majority of the hike was fairly flat with the elevation gain being gradual. A couple of streams had enough pools that Kelley could cool off.
A variety of vegetation growing from the top of an old stump.
The view from the overlook
Roots at the bottom of a long overturned tree.
A very odd insect
Turned out a little longer than planed but a good hike. 3 1/2 hours

The vegetation on the stump looks to me like a miniature forest. The tree roots look sinister. Nice focus on the insect eyes!

ReplyDeleteJohn, love the tree roots and the stump photos best. I think it is so wonderful how all things have beauty. yeah, sometime we have to hunt for it, but its there. Bill
