Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

8/14/11 Walden Parke

Thunderstorms with hail forecast for this afternoon so we stayed close to home and returned to Walden . It was sunny while we hiked and humid but the deer flies seem to be about over for this year and that is a relief. Mary joined us again and was content to repeat the hike of two days ago. These are some of the things we saw.

As you can see from this fellow, bees are not the only pollinators

Another White Admiral

This ones not as sharp as he might be but I include him because of his oddness

I don't know this tiny wildflower

Sharing a flower

This guy sat in the middle of the trail without moving until prodded ( to get him into the grass before Kelley saw him)

  1. There is a surprising (to me) variety of hornets and other flying insects in your area.

  2. I think it's a matter of once you start looking you see more of them.
