Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

6/18/10 Day Mountain-Hunters Beach

Quite warm today ( 88 forecast for Bangor) so back to Acadia where the temps were supposed to be about 12 degrees cooler. We first did the Day Mountain Trail from Rte. 3. looking for any of the small old trails.

Kelley takes advantage of what water she can find.

After reaching the summit of Day we did find one small old trail which looped back to the main trail. We returned to our starting point but continued on the trail toward the ocean and on to Hunters Beach

We then found the Hunters Brook Trail, Lower (455) and followed that but cut over before we intended and could not find the continuation. We followed the road up to the park loop road and the Hunters Brook Trail we like so much. We searched across from it for trail 425 and thought perhaps we had found it but it soon became evident that we could not follow it. We came out short of where we intended and decided to just walk back along the road to our car. We then drove to Seal Harbor and sat overlooking the water and had lunch. 3 hours of hiking.
