Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

4/7/13 The Bowl and Gorham Mountain

Cold, gray, and windy ( we got clearing during the hike). We went to Gorham, thinking it might not be icy because of it's open orientation. This proved to be true with little ice and no snow.

We started from Sand Beach parking and took the trail to the Bowl so Kelley could have a dip. Along the way we met a nice man from Houlton who we later saw again on top of Gorham.

We then backtracked to the Gorham Mtn. Trail  which was in good shape with only some minor work arounds for Kelley.

Sand Beach and Great Head from Gorham

Down the other side to the Ocean Path. We went up to the point to a spot we like for lunch and then walked back along the path to the parking lot. There were several people along this coastal trail.

Some of the views

What started as a dreary looking day turned out nicely and we had a good hike.  2  1/2 hours

    1. Thanks Linda- that's a very nice section of coast- probably the most dramatic in the park.
