
We started from Route 3. The first 30 minutes were wooded with a gentle rise and had no snow or ice though there were ample rocks and roots to trip one up.

You then get your first glimpse above the trees and a little further on the trail begins to really open up.


Beyond this rocky outcrop just before the Featherbed ( a mountain pond) the trail is completely open and mostly over sheets of granite until just before the summit where there is a brief wooded section.

The trees near the summit look a little like bonsai (third photo).
ReplyDeleteYes they do - in shape. I saw them almost that large in Washington.
