3/17/10 Cadillac Mtn. S. Ridge trail
We started from Route 3. The first 30 minutes were wooded with a gentle rise and had no snow or ice though there were ample rocks and roots to trip one up.
You then get your first glimpse above the trees and a little further on the trail begins to really open up.
Beyond this rocky outcrop just before the Featherbed ( a mountain pond) the trail is completely open and mostly over sheets of granite until just before the summit where there is a brief wooded section.

Near the Blue Hill overlook the trail comes quite near the park road and we went over and finished the hike on that because there is a rocky spot in that last section of the trail that Kelley does not like. After walking around the various outlooks we returned the way we came.
Kelley waiting on me to do something.
This is the Featherbed heading south on the trail.

The trees near the summit look a little like bonsai (third photo).
ReplyDeleteYes they do - in shape. I saw them almost that large in Washington.
