Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

9/9/15 Sunkhaze Wildlife Refuge

Another hot one forecast, but we got out early and while it was still cloudy so it was reasonably comfortable.

When we do this hike we first go to the beaver pond

Some leaves we found on the way

This pond was also very low.

We then turned back to pick up the loop. The last time we were here the trail was in terrible condition with many blow downs to work around. A friend had been recently and told us the  trail was now in good shape, and it was. The bridges are still warped and there was a sign near the end saying the trail was closed because of the bridges. Some sections were slippery with whatever grows on the boards.

Another nice leaf

Cedar swamp section

A variety of lichens

 and one last leaf

Not a bad outing. Because of the clouds it stayed in the 70's ( we got the heat later ) and Kelley did well. 1  1/2 hours

  1. I just love those boardwalks going through the trees. I imagine those can get quite slick at times. Hope you have good "grippy" shoes!
    Have a wonderful weekend
