5/4/15 City Forest

Another warm sunny day ! We got a late start because I had to be home for the furnace guy.

We started from the end of Kittredge Rd. so Kelley could have the beaver pond both at the start and the finish

There were others enjoying this nice day and we met several people, including a couple and their dog we often meet ( some chatting) and even two women on horses.

Found a little more coltsfoot

We took the side trail over to the old rail bed.

A small stream crosses the trail

Still no leaves on the trees

Another small stream just off the rail bed

Almost finished - this tree is over 12 inches in diameter

First insect - just a fly

This was done at a leisurely pace - Kelley was very interested in all the scents along the way. She also got into water numerous times. Very pleasant outing. 2 hours

    1. She is, Kim. It was a long winter with almost no open water - usually we get some. Now she takes advantage of every opportunity

  2. Nice beaver dam! Did you spot any beavers?

    1. Hi Linda- we see lots of beaver dams and lodges and trees felled by them but we never see the beavers- not sure why that is.

  3. Ah, that tree is almost to the point of the "timber" cry! That just happened last week where someone came in to cut off 6 trees, to make place for a "barn" (aka studio).

  4. Hi John
We just had our first really warm weekend, and a tiny rain on Monday--and that's all it took to get the leaves popping out. It was just overnight-from blah to beautiful. Hope you get the right conditions soon.
    Beautiful photos as always

    1. Thank you Sue. We have had several warm days and rain is forecast in next few days- that should do it.

  5. That fly is quite detailed--I love it! And, also good that Kelley had a good time while you took the great pictures!
