10/10/11 Little Long Pond

A beautiful sunny day in the 70's. Decided Kelley deserved an easy day on a hike she really likes ( lots of water). We took the Friends Path from the parking area down to the end of Long Pond. A very pleasant trail.

Kelley was in the pond before I even got down to it. I was going to count the times she got into the water on the hike but stopped at 15. Still some green but the colors are starting to show.

Got these without Kelley among them

We followed the trail along the west side of the pond and then the Jordan Stream Trail which mostly runs close to the stream

She wants to get in but I think she's considering how she will get back out.

We followed the Jordan Stream to the cobblestone bridge and then took the carriage road back down the east side of the pond. We met lots of people and lots of dogs which both made Kelley happy. This section of the carriage roads is on private property and not subject to the leash rules of the park and people bring their dogs here so they can run off leash.

The obligatory fall colors scenes - looking across the pond.

A very pleasant and leisurely outing. 2 1/2 hours including a fair amount of talking ( me) and playing (Kelley)

  2. I envy your sunny weather. I went out today to photograph the colorful fall trees. The skies were completely cloudy early on followed by a steady rain drizzle.

  3. Hi John--we have a gray day today and three days of rain predicted so don't be too envious
