I hadn't seen a caterpillar all summer and saw two ( same type) on this hike

This was odd as all the other bunchberries have long since stopped flowering and are showing bunches of red berries

This guy was on the new asphalt

I am retired and have been doing a lot of hiking with my dog Kelley. Kelley has done all the peaks in Acadia National Park as well as those in Camden and the Donnell Pond and Monteville area. We have also done Big and Little Moose, Petit Manan and the Cutler Coast. We hope that other hikers will share hikes they have enjoyed.
This is a nice set of images, strongly seen, consistently cropped and sharp. I like them.
ReplyDeleteThank you John
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly is a Fritillary. There are numerous species of those and I won't try to guess which it is.
ReplyDeleteThanks again-will try to nail it down further
