1/5/10 More Park Loop Road

Another gray day but a little over 30 degrees and little wind. We drove in Otter Cliff Road and parked in the parking lot near the end. We started the walk from the back (closed) entrance and walked right on the road. There had been snow mobile activity here and it was just enough cooler that the snow was much firmer and the walking easier. Since this part of the road is closed to cars Kelley got to run free and was very happy. This was a pretty walk as the road mostly stays close to the ocean. We hiked up to where Rte. 3 crosses the loop road and just beyond is the trail head for the Hunters Brook Trail-one of Kelley's favorites because it follows the stream most of the way. Usually when we come to a trail crossing she will stop and look at me and wait for an OK but she didn't hesitate this time but started right up the trail. The snow was deeper in the woods and no one had preceded us so the walking was more difficult but we went a ways in before turning back. On the return we passed by the rear entrance to the lot and continued on to the end of Otter Cliff Road and up that to the front of the lot (further than I had thought). A nice hike. A little over 3 hours
