Cold (teens) but with brilliant sunshine. We went out to Sunkhaze Preserve to try another trail but couldn't find a place to park the car. The roads were icy and the shoulders piled with snow leaving no place to pull over without risk of getting stuck. So, back to some snowmobile trails near home. We started at the West Penjajawoc Grasslands at the end of Fox Hollow Rd. As you near the marsh area there is a snowmobile trail that leads off to the left through some very nice woods. It comes out at a utility easement and we followed that left. Kelley saw a deer and got very excited. I was glad I had her on her leash. The trail takes another left and runs to the old Veazie Railroad bed which we took (right)almost to the end (where there used to be a gate but it is now open)and then returned the way we came. A beautiful day once we got warmed up. 2 hours

Re: problem of no snowmobiles on easement behind house. I mentioned it to a neighbor and he got a friend to run his sled all the way to the trail we were on yesterday ( just got back from checking it out) so now we can leave from our back yard and go for miles without using the car. Pretty nice!

Your camera seems to be holding up fine in that cold weather...right?
ReplyDeleteSeems so-I keep it under my coat and vest when not in use.
