Hot and sunny. We chose a trail that would not be too strenuous for Kelley but still involved an ascent. We started from the Western Mountain Road and climbed to the summit which is wooded without views. This trail does, however, offer views from the ledges along the way.
Kelley found a little shade to rest in.
It doesn't have to be a lot of water
When we reached the summit Kelley wanted to take the trail down to Little Notch which is fairly steep and I agreed, knowing it might be a struggle getting back up--and it was. We hiked back to our car and then drove the short distance to Seal Cove Pond for lunch and a cooling swim for Kelley.
All in all a pretty good hike on a hot day 2 1/4 hours.
