12/16/15 Hogback Mountain

This trail had been closed for awhile and we just learned it had been reopened. A bit nippy in lower 30's but more sun than clouds.

We had about an inch on snow at home but here there was none. Looking down from ridge of the Hemlock Hollow Trail

Kelley soon found a stream

As we got higher there was a dusting of snow

  and a knot

The trail used to loop around but now just continues on the Frye Mt. so we returned the way we had come.

Good day for Kelley as there were several streams

Pretty good hike - Kelley was enthusiastic and did well. I think she liked that it was at trail we hadn't done in some time. 2  1/4 hours

  2. The views must be marvelous. Love the knot.
We're heading into a couple of days of normal temps---it's going to be hard to get used to after such a streak of 40's.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, John.

    1. Yes, she has - and the rain has created lots of small pools in addition to the streams and ponds
