Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

12/11/15 Hills to Sea Trail

Fog, clouds, and drizzle but upper 40's. By the time we got to the hike the fog and drizzle were gone and there were hints of sun.  A sign on the kiosk indicated a trail had been rerouted but was not on the map. We headed of in the direction shown.

The trail starts in some nice woods

and then follows the stream.

Kelley was soon able to find a way in

while I got a picture in the other direction

We then came to this sign

Kelley was ready to cross but I was not and we took the alternative route. Kelley had been enthusiastic to this point but wasn't very happy with the road.

Pretty fields, once we were off the road.

We then came to the bridge

Kelley wouldn't cross ( she is smarter then me) but I went to the middle of the bridge for a picture of the stream

We headed back and I found this old insulator

a closed gravel pit

One last time in the stream

When we got back to the kiosk we met a man who worked on the trails and he told us where the alternate route was- it was posted but I missed the description. He also told us the state had closed the bridge as unsafe.  So, an interesting hike if not as planned. 1  1/2 hours

    1. We have been luck temperature wise and enough rain to keep it wet for Kelley
