Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

5/7/12 Goose Ridge Trail

Beautiful sunny day in the low 60s. We started from the trail head on Freedom Pond Road .

I did not see the insects on this Trillium until I processed the picture

When I was a child and living in the country we often found the red Trillium and sometimes the white but I had not seen this color before.

At one point the trail passes through Spirited Horses Ranch and this meadow is part of the ranch.

Kelley was excited by this hike. I think she liked the change of pace.

These fiddleheads were quite a bit smaller than those you see being sold to eat .

A beautiful day and a very pleasant walk in the woods. We did not go all the way to Penny Road but turned back on the pipeline easement.  3 hours

  1. Lovely pictures. That is an odd colored Trillium. I think it's an aberrant Scarlet Trillium. It doesn't fit the descriptions of any of 8 trilliums listed in my Newcomb's guide.
I envy your time to hike and hoping to do much more in my retirement.Just a couple more months. My dog will be very happy.

  2. Hi Jill - thanks for your nice comments and the Trillium info. Kelley sure loves to be out hiking- I ended up hiking as much as I do because of Kelley's needs but it has been good for me too.
