A nice sunny day but I'm way behind in the garden so wanted some place close to save all the drive time. Sunkhaze is only about 20 miles away and Kelley likes it. This time we did the Johnson Brook Trail. including the spur to the beaver dam.
This is a Kelley collaboration- the water was smooth until she jumped in and improved the picture.
Most of the time she will now use the bog bridges like this one in the cedar swamp. She used to walk beside them.
Very pleasant morning.
I have heard of Sunkhaze but never been there. The boardwalk through the cedar swamp looks worth a trip. You did mean cedar not cypress right? I was given my first digital camera before a trip to OR and CA last fall. I enjoyed taking pictures but have a lot to learn. I like your close-ups a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill- Thanks for looking and commenting and correcting my error. I lived in Mississippi for 13 years and visited cypress swamps there. I think the close-ups are some of favorites to take. There is a fair amount of diversity on the different trails in Sunkhaze and you rarely meet anyone.
ReplyDeleteThe next time you visit the Cedar Bog you should find a memorial cedar bench. (To be placed on September 29, 2012).
ReplyDeleteA pic of Kelley resting on the bench would be a great addition to our web-site, as well as provide a link to your site.
I just came across your blog, and I think it is great.
Sincerely,

Hi John
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comments. I shall look for the bench- getting Kelley to pose may be another matter. If there are other pictures of Sunkhaze you would like to use for non commercial purposes on your site or brochures I would be glad to let you use them. You can find other hikes we did there by using the search function in the upper left corner.
