Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

5/19/12 Valley Peak and St. Sauveur

A beautiful day and we headed for Acadia. This was the most strenuous hike we have done in awhile. The Valley Peak Trail, especially, has some steep and rocky sections that Kelley had to find ways around and one spot where she needed a boost. The Valley Peak is actually wooded but there are very nice views all along the trail from that point until it drops down into the woods to meet the fire road. Note - the  northern part of the Flying Mountain Trail is closed due to Peregrine Falcon nesting.

We took the Man O' War Fire Road to the St Sauveur Trail which  does not offer views and the summit is wooded. There may have been views from the Ledge Loop  which is now closed.

This is a forming pine cone, something I don't remember seeing before.

We continued over St Sauveur to rejoin the Valley Peak Trail and back to where we had parked. Very nice day 3  1/4 hours
