12/5/10 Camden

Gray day with light snow. We went to Camden because it wasn't supposed to be snowing there but it was. Big snow forecast for tomorrow so we want to get one in today. We started from Rte. 52.

The leaves in this pool looked interesting but as I was getting ready Kelley jumped in and roiled everything up. I had to wait for everything to settle down before I could get the picture.

The Old Carriage Road Trail-very wet-a dry section

took us to Mt. Battie Road which we followed to the top and a view of Camden Harbor in the snow.

We walked down to the Tableland Trail and took that to Ocean Lookout. This part of the hike turned out to be more difficult than we had anticipated with large rocks covered with wet leaves and a dusting of snow making for poor footing.

We took Tableland back down to the Carriage Trail to make a loop back to our car.

We took our time and walked carefully-no mishaps. Kelley was excited to be on the trail and we met a Yellow Lab and some nice people. In spite of the treacherous footing it was quiet and peaceful and not too cold so a good hike. 3 hours

  1. I like the "leaves in water" pic a lot. (Ha, ha, Kelley's hi-jinks remind me of the line: "You, with the sneakers, out of the pool!"
