Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

2/7/11 Walden Parke and Veazie Railroad Bed

More snow Saturday night so we have just walked around the neighborhood yesterday ( after clearing driveways). Today we went to Walden thinking there might have been enough use to give us good footing without many people ( we encountered no one). The Walden part of the trail had been used by skiers and snowshoers and was fairly good walking. When we got to the section of the old Veazie Railroad bed that is used by snowmobiles it was even better- well used and packed.

There is a section on private property that had been blocked but the snowmobilers have bypassed this section by going out into the marsh. Kelley thought it was a good place to explore.

On our return we turned off the rail bed and followed the snowmobile trail that parallels the Walden trail as it provided easier walking and a change of scenery. A nice sunny day and a good walk. 2 hours

  1. That rail bed makes for a very straight trail.

  2. This section certainly is. It must curve somewhere?
