Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

11/5/09 Walden Parke Preserve

This is a project of the Bangor Land Trust and abuts the Bangor City Forest. Between them there are several miles of trails and all about 4 miles from home. Kelley and I went here today because of a forecast for rain and snow. There is lots of water for Kelley to enjoy and today she met another dog she played with for awhile.

Pleased to find your blog. You seem to stay around Bangor and Acadia. You could spend a lifetime doing just that and not see it all.

Maine has thousands of miles of snowmobile and and ATV trails. The only down side is that some of the snowmobile trails cross big swamps that are not easy to hike around. I spend a lot of time in the woods and there are old farm roads and abandoned railroad tracks all over the place. They are easy to hike and just have the occasional blowdown to climb over or duck under. I'm not retired, but I was born before WWII.

  2. Thanks for your comment. I do try to stay within a couple of hours of Bangor--seems like we should spend more time on the trail than in the car. I plan to investigate more snowmobile trails as they worked pretty well for us last winter.
