Warmer weather - mid 80's so we went for a woodsy hike with some water for Kelley. We found this trail from a map we acquired from a man we met hiking. It starts at the end of Dynamite Brook Rd. It is an old woods road ( and looks it in places) but much of it has grown into a single track.
The trailhead
Because the woods are fairly dense there were few flowers but I did find this fungus.
About half way to the pond there is a small stream.
I liked the small leaves against the very large.
Donnell Pond at last.
On the way back
Not a bad outing. There were deer flies and mosquitoes at the start but the number of mosquitoes diminished and the deer flies disappeared as we got into the deeper woods There were a few people camped at the beach and we talked to one man about fishing. Kelley seemed to do well. 2 1/4 hours
Another beautiful hike!
ReplyDeleteYes, Linda- turned out to be a good choice.
DeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteI would think the bugs would be much worse in the woods. Glad you didn't have too much trouble with them.
Sue
One would think so but it's the same at City Forest- the wooded shaded trails have none but the open rail bed has lots- they seem to like the sun
