11/2/14 Neighborhood

Yesterday was rainy, today we got snow( and the first frost ! ) - this is the morning part of the storm. Kelley was very excited- she loves the snow like a child and couldn't wait to get out into it. It was wet and heavy and my pants were soon wet - there was also a 20-30 mph wind. Kelley didn't mind that either. There was almost no traffic so I was able to let her run free

Then Kelley made a new friend- a pup we had not met before - Fenton

When Fenton went inside we headed home.

Kelley was not ready to come inside and stayed out. - eventually wandering down the street and laying in a neighbors front yard- where she had never gone before . I retrieved her and made her come inside - usually she can be trusted to stay in our yard or  next door if George ( one of her favorite humans) is outside. The snow continued to accumulate and branches and trees started coming down and at 4:00 we lost our power until this morning.

  1. Oh so pretty! Love the pics of Kelley playing with the other dog and the last one of her licking the snow off her face.

    1. Thanks Linda- she loves the snow- some dogs she wants to play with and others she just meets and then ignores- i can't tell which it will be when we meet a new dog- she really liked Fenton

  2. Kelley is not the only fan of winter----it is such a wonderful time of year to see the beauty in nature.
I hope you have a good pair of "grippy" boots or something. We use "Stabilicers"---cleats that attach to our boots so we don't slip on ice. It's opened up a whole new season of walks for us.
    Be careful out there!

    1. Hi Sue- I have Stabilicers too. We hike year round. Hoping this year will be better than last winter which was the iciest ever and lots of dangerous trails- we used snowmobile trails a lot.

  4. The first snow is always the best--fond memories of bringing out that snow shovel for the first time knowing it wold be a number of months before it was put away--remember as well the money we could make going door to door to shovel snow--enjoy. Will say that as long as I am still flying, it is nice to come up north see the leaves change and the snow , but, then come back and take a walk on the beach!! Plan on giving up and RETIRE, can you believe it, by August of next year--will be able to come north more often then. Brother Tom
