Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

7/4/11 Black Mtn. and Schoodic Trails

Foggy dark start. This was an unusual hike as we did not go to either of the peaks on these trails.
We started from the Schoodic Beach parking lot up the Black Mtn. Trail which was harder for Kelley than I remembered ( we usually go up a different trail). As we got to the point where the trail drops down only to climb to the peak we turned back as it was obvious we would be able to see nothing.

We backtracked to the trail that runs to Schoodic Beach so Kelley could have a real swim. Parts of the trail are in need of maintenance. Kelley found a way around.

When we got to Donnell Pond there was only a bit of haze left.

We had lunch and I thought Kelley could use a bit more so we went up the Schoodic Mtn. Trail with the idea of dropping down to the parking lot rather than going to the summit. This turned out to be a good idea as it became warm and we were both ready to sit down.

  1. Oh! I so love those foggy shots! They seem to scream Maine to me, and make me miss your lovely state a whole lot.
