Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

12/5/16 Perch Pond

Cloudy, twenty three degrees but no wind or rain - snow predicted for this afternoon. Have had a little practice with the new computer and software so the pictures should be improved.

A chilly start with frost and ice on most of the plants .

The small pond was frozen and we gave up on it. The bank was iffy and I didn't want to get wet in the cold.

Through the woods to the big pond

It was also frozen

Kelley was very frustrated when she put her paws on the ice and it din't break. I got some rocks to throw and break some ice for her but she did not go very far.

Another section of trail

When using the North Trail, we usually go out on the old woods road that parallels the trail and return on the trail; it crosses a small stream. The stream was not frozen and Kelly got a little more water.

Kelley did well today except for being frustrated by the ice keeping her from the water. It stayed cold but wasn't bad once we got moving . The snow didn't start until we got home.  1  1/2 hours

  1. I'll never get used to seeing that dog in the water when it's freezing. Yikes! And yet I know how much she must love it.

    1. Hi Sue- yes Kelley gets in any open water no matter how cold- some small streams run even at ten below and she's in.
