Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

3/20/15 Glenburn Trails

Twenty degrees and  sunny. Decided to return to Glenburn and continue the trail we stopped on last time we were here.  Kelley seemed up for a hike. I could not find a map that showed the continuation of the trail.

The Kenduskeag near where the trail forks.

We again followed the stream and  into a short section of woods and then came out on a large field

Looking back at the woods

This windmill looked new  but didn't look like it was for pumping water.

At least one plant in snow

After another brief stretch of woods we came to another large  field and then a road I was not familiar with. A short while after crossing the road I decide we had done enough- not wanting Kelley to overdo it.

Heading back

A pretty good hike, though the  new section we did was not as interesting as the earlier trails. Kelley was enthusiastic throughout, it warmed up to 32, and we didn't meet anyone. 2  1/4 hours

  1. What is your source of trail maps? Online?
I'm always on the lookout for good hikes. Some places are good about posting online, but for others, I'm always on the lookout at visitor's bureaus or tourist info stations.
    Looks like a gorgeous day!

    1. Found your post. Yes, mostly online. and the same here about finding them- sometimes I get lucky and meet someone who shares a map I didn't find. It was a beautiful day.

  2. Glad to see Kelley is doing better, I like you were worried for a while. What is the weather like the first part of May--think a trip up sometime this spring would be good for a change--see the flowers blown as opposed to the leaves fall?? Brother Tom

    1. Hi Tom- hard to say - especially this year - we had snow again this morning. Might be easier to tell when we are a little closer
