Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

6/8/14 Eliot Mountain and Harbor Brook

Another beautiful day. We are back here because our friend doing the Trek wanted to do another carriage road circuit. This hike and nearby Little Long Pond are the only trails in the park that the leash rules don't apply- they are on private property, though connected to the actual park.

We did the same loop as last week.

View from ledges near the summit

The hike up was warm and there were only puddles and tiny streams. Kelley takes a break while I get my picture.

On the Asticou Trail ( actually in the park) we met man , his son, and their dog, but no one else the rest of the hike

Kelley was very happy when we came to the brook

The rest of the hike ( except for the short walk to the car at the end) is next to the stream and she was constantly in and out of the water.

Another Swallowtail let me take it's picture.

A pretty good hike, though Kelley seemed a little gimpy at the end- we will do something short and easy tomorrow.  2  1/4 hours

  1. Nice pic of the swallowtail. They are so darn hard to photograph, 'cause they won't stand still. I also like the shot of Kelley in the water - you captured some nice colors.
