Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

10/9/13 Perch Pond

Lower 50's but sunny and no wind- pretty good hiking weather. Decided we would have another go at the trails around Perch Pond. This time we started on the South Trail from Poplar St. There is a parking lot at this trail head. The trail starts off woodsy and wet but there is a nice series of bog bridges.

The trail then turns onto one of the old woods roads that make up parts of this trail system.

At the next intersection we took the road to Kirkland Rd. and then the North Trail , which is very close back to the intersection

And from there another to the Shore Trail

We decided to follow the Shore Trail to it's end in hopes of finding the end of the Spruce Trail which we could not find on our last visit. And Kelley got to swim.

Once again we could not find the Spruce Trail after checking several possibilities and gave up and took one of the bike trails to the Spruce Road and  then back on the trails we had come in on. We had done a lot better today. We stayed off the bike trails and any unmarked trails and  checked both maps at any trail intersections  and managed to stay on track. Our only problem was the failure to find the Spruce Trail- next time- we also have the bike trails yet to explore. A good hike on a beautiful day. 2  3/4 hours
