Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

9/13/11 Sunkhaze Wildlife Refuge

We first did the hike down Carter Meadow Road-this as a gated service road that goes through some fairly dense woods to a trail ( not shown on this map) that takes you to the observation platform overlooking Sunkhaze Meadows Bog.

Along the way we saw some interesting fungi

Next to the observation platform Kelley found a small pool--she's in there

We returned to our car and drove to the Johnson Brook Trail . The little spur upper right leads to a beaver dam and pool.

Later on the main trail we found more fungi

Some of the bog bridges are in poor repair. Kelley is usually not crazy about these but had no trouble with this one.
