11/29/10 Breakneck and Carriage Roads
Cold but sunny. We started at the Hull's Cove end of the Breakneck Road, taking that down to the ponds and then picked up the carriage road loop that circles Witch Hole Pond and Paradise Hill. We met a couple of walkers and four people biking who Kelley was happy to meet.

My map showed a trail (unnamed) leading from the carriage road back to the Breakneck. We thought we had found it and started out but it soon disappeared. After a bit of bushwhacking we found a trail that did take us back to the Breakneck. We stopped for lunch and then returned the way we had come.
A beautiful day. 3-1/2 hours

11/27/10 Carriage Roads around Jordan Pond
After a rest day yesterday we decide to try a longer hike today. We started on the carriage road on the west side of Jordan Pond . Cold, cloudy, and snowing when we started.
Jordan Stream
The road rises and runs along and above Jordan Pond
And below the Jordan Cliffs
We followed it north of the pond and then across below Eagle Lake and down along Bubble Pond until we came to the Pond Trail . Kelley had been stopping at every trail head we passed ,wanting to get onto a trail and we knew this one was not difficult .
We took it across to Jordan Pond and Kelley got into some water.
By the time we neared our start the sun had come out
We met few people so Kelley was off her leash for the whole hike and happy to be able to explore. A nice walk-3-1/4 hours.

11/25/10 Back to Acadia!
Our first hike after broken ankle. We did carriage roads ( relatively flat-easy walking) around Little Long Pond and a tiny piece of Asticou. Cold (upper 20's when we started), windy, and sunny. Kelley was very excited and obviously happy to be at the park. I think this is her favorite of all the places we hike. She got to meet several nice people and several friendly dogs. She also got to break through the thin ice and lie in several small pools.

Kelley was happy to be at Acadia again . I was happy that it went better than expected with no pain and a feeling of normalcy. A beautiful day. Just under 2-1/2 hours

11/18/10 More Earlier Pictures
More picture from before the blog was started.
Sargent Mountain Pond is likely the first lake in Maine because of it's location when the last glacier melted.
Wonderland is a short trail from the road to the ocean on the western part of the island.
Long Pond-the larger one-also called Great Pond.

11/14/10 More Bangor Pics
Cool but sunny. Ankle is still sore so we went downtown where Kelley moves slowly, because there are so many smells to check out, and I could take it easy.

11/12/10 No Boot-No Crutches
We had our first (short) walk without appliances today (just around the neighborhood) and in celebration I took a camera. Kelley was happy to be out ( it has been raining for days)and had a lot of sniffing to catch up on.

11/4/10 Kelley and Friends
Kelley, Bill, and Oscar--Bill and I met on the trail and ended up doing a loop together while the dogs ran loose and had a great time. Neither dog was inclined to pose so Bill had to hold on to them for a picture.
Mary and Kelley in the snow on Penobscot Mountain. Kelley is after a treat.
This man ( I don't remember his name) took a picture of us on Gorham Mtn. and then I took a picture of the couple with Kelley and sent it to them. We were all enjoying a beautiful day.
Kelley and me on the park loop road on a cold day.
Kenai and Kelley playing in the water along the Cutler Coast. There were steps leading down to this beach from a bluff and Kelley was reluctant to take them until Kenai ran up and down them several times to encourage her.
Kelley, Marylou, and Rick on Parkman Mountain. They thought Kelley was pretty nice and she obviously liked them too.
We met Bill and Toni at the start of the trail up Champlain from the south and they ended up hiking with us to the summit and then down the north side to the road . Another good hike with nice people.
