6/30/16 Partridge and Ducktail Ponds

Nice day for a hike - lower 70's with a mix of sun and clouds. Was worried deer flies might be a problem as one time last year there were so  many they drove us out, but only a very few today.

Start of the trail toward the ponds.

A little water across the trail - usually several streams and pools but today most had dried up.

We usually bypass the trail to Ducktail and visit Partridge first

In the pond

Not as sharp as it should be but first of the year

Wet spot in the trail on the way back to the main trail

Ducktail Pond

Not a lot of flowers today but we found some wild iris

Nice hike. Kelley did very well today and was enthusiastic - I think a result of a day off and partly a hike she likes. 2 hours

  1. That blue in the iris is a stunning shade. I love it!
And that start of the trail looks very inviting. Looks like you had a fine outing.
    Enjoy your weekend, John
