6/1/11 Cascade and Saxl Park

Both of these parks are in town and connected by trails. Cascade is a small more traditional park with a waterfall, fountain, and picnic tables. It is just across the road from the Penobscot River.

Saxl is on the grounds of Dorthes Dix Hospital and is essentially a very large meadow with paths mowed through it. It also has a pond for Kelley. Very pleasant, with about 3 miles of trail.

Lots of flowers but they were all buttercups. We did find these forming pine cones.

And a reminder we were in the city

  1. Nice parks. They even threw in a rainbow with the fountain. I would not have guessed that those were forming pinecones.

  2. Yes, they are nice parks. I had never before looked closely at new cones.
