4/5/15 Snowmobile Trail From Dover-Foxcroft

Twenty nine degrees, mix of sun and clouds, windy. and snow or rain predicted for this afternoon. Still a question of trail conditions. Dover-Foxcroft is a little north and our last visit went well so that's where we headed.

The first part of the trail is open marsh and the trail was mostly clear of snow but had some ice. Once we turned into the woods there was snow and we were protected from the wind.

Then we got more sun and it was quite pretty.

The surface was quite firm for easy walking and the little fresh snow made a nice clean background.

As we neared the half way point  it clouded up and we got some light snow.  As we started back it cleared again  but then quickly turned very dark.

And the snow came down fairly heavily.

One more weed

An interesting hike with all the weather changes. Kelley was enthusiastic, often ahead of me, sometimes  running . We met three runners with a dog on the way out and a group of three snowmobiles on the way back but mostly it was just us.  2  1/2 hours

  1. Kelley looks snow-covered in that last photo! Looks like a great trail for skiing.

    1. Yes. it was coming down pretty good. The snowmobilers groom those trails so they do work for skiers- nice and wide for skate skiers
