8/13/14 City Forest

Cloudy , 60's, and breezy - rain predicted  and for  next 5 days. Decided an easy one was in order after two a bit more rigorous. We started from the end of Kittredge Rd. and were going to do the route we do most often but Kelley wanted to take a side trail - it ended up circling back to the West Trail. No deer flies until we started down the old rail bed and suddenly there were a lot of them and they were with us until we got back to West and they gradually disappeared again. There was lots of water for Kelley and we met several people and a couple of dogs so that made her happy too. The wind made close ups difficult but I got a few not too badly out of focus.

Not bad except for the deer flies. 1  3/4 hours
