I am retired and have been doing a lot of hiking with my dog Kelley. Kelley has done all the peaks in Acadia National Park as well as those in Camden and the Donnell Pond and Monteville area. We have also done Big and Little Moose, Petit Manan and the Cutler Coast. We hope that other hikers will share hikes they have enjoyed.

9/14/13 Marsh Island
Finally a day without rain. Yesterday it rained pretty much non stop and we just walked around the neighborhood getting wet. This morning it felt and looked like rain so we picked a nearby spot ( it ended up not raining). We started from Hillside St. and followed the new blue blazes that took us on our usual route except for one small section- we did that on our return. The blazes are helpful on this confusing network of trails- many not on the map.
These are a few things we saw
These berries and leaves were such an odd color that they did not look real
I could not get in front of this one and when I tried to nudge it into position it flew off
We followed the trail along the river until it became too wet- for me
We then headed the other way along the river for a ways before turning back. Turned out to be a pretty good 2 1/2 hour hike. Though there were wet spots it was not as bad as i had expected and, of course, Kelley was happy with the water and just being out of the house and in the woods.

The color of those berries is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim- very unusual
