I am retired and have been doing a lot of hiking with my dog Kelley. Kelley has done all the peaks in Acadia National Park as well as those in Camden and the Donnell Pond and Monteville area. We have also done Big and Little Moose, Petit Manan and the Cutler Coast. We hope that other hikers will share hikes they have enjoyed.

7/5/12 City Forest
Yesterday was rainy ( off and on) and we walked around town for a bit in the drizzle. All of my pictures were out of focus- not sure how I managed that. This morning was dark and threatening rain again so we went to City Forest before it started ( it never did rain). I took my small camera so I could more easily protect it from rain and having not used it in awhile had some problems with it which were compounded by hoards of deer flies on the rail bed section of the hike which I was constantly swatting at. Kelley was happy to be out and there was lots of water for her to get into and a few friendly people for her to greet. The flies landing on her bothered me more than they seemed to bother her. Almost two hours.

Is that a deer fly on the blue flower?
ReplyDeleteNo- they look more like regular flies but with stripes on their wings- I think that is a hoverfly of some sort
