I am retired and have been doing a lot of hiking with my dog Kelley. Kelley has done all the peaks in Acadia National Park as well as those in Camden and the Donnell Pond and Monteville area. We have also done Big and Little Moose, Petit Manan and the Cutler Coast. We hope that other hikers will share hikes they have enjoyed.

6/16/12 Tunk Mountain
Forecast was for a sunny day but as you can see they got it wrong again and we had a very cloudy day. Chose the trail from Myrick Pond Road ( it's actually off a road that branches off from the pond road) because it's the easiest for Kelley.
Once you rise above the trees this trail offers some very nice views.
The Lady Slippers are still in good shape- I think because of the cool weather
Our view as we ate our lunch
As we were coming down it looked like it might clear ( it didn't) and there were a lot of these Tiger Swallowtails about.
A good hike in spite of the lack of sun. We had the mountain to ourselves and enjoyed the beauty and peace of the place. 2 1/2 hours

Nice views indeed. I like the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting John- There was lots of that hanging upside down behavior.
