10/6/11 Schoodic Mountain

Cold ( upper 40's) and very windy but the sun is shining. We started from the Schoodic Beach parking area and climbed Schoodic

as you get above the trees the views open up

Very windy at the summit so we didn't spend much time looking around. A couple of views.

We then hiked down to the beach at Donnell Pond. Near the pond the trail widens and is quite pleasant

Because of the wind there were small waves and Kelley doesn't like them so she was only briefly in the water here.

We then took the Black Mountain Trail , which begins a to climb steadily until you reach the ridge and the trail becomes gently rolling and quite pleasant.

We then took the trail back to the parking area where we had started. Kelley seemed very energetic and happy with this hike though it was longer and more strenuous than our most recent efforts. 3 hours

  1. Very nice landscapes. They open with a single click into large images that are impressive.

  2. Thanks John - they do seem larger than usual - I didn't do anything differently
