I am retired and have been doing a lot of hiking with my dog Kelley. Kelley has done all the peaks in Acadia National Park as well as those in Camden and the Donnell Pond and Monteville area. We have also done Big and Little Moose, Petit Manan and the Cutler Coast. We hope that other hikers will share hikes they have enjoyed.

5/1/10 - Notch Ponds Trail - Little Moose
A nice sunny day with comfortable temperatures. We drove to Big Indian Pond to see if the proposed trail was completed but it seemed not to be so we started at the Notch Ponds trail head. The section from the road to the ponds was an easy walk and the ponds were pretty with Kelley taking full advantage.
Little Notch Pond
Big Notch Pond
After leaving the ponds the trail began to rise to the ridge above them
And became quite steep with some rock to rock sections
Just before the steepest rocky section ( the only place where Kelley needed a hand) you get this view through the trees
Once we reached the ridge the trail was a bit of a roller coaster with several fairly steep elevation changes. We went to the intersection with the Loop Trail which we did a couple of days ago and then retraced our steps back to the car. 3- 3/4 hours

Lots of water. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It made Kelley very happy.
